I’m Ashley — a mom of two, military spouse, animal lover (with two sweet pups of my own), and the heart behind the lens at Ashley Watkins Photography.

My passion for photography began back in high school and has only deepened over the years. What started as a creative interest has become something much more meaningful — a way to freeze time and preserve the fleeting moments that come with motherhood and family life. As a mom myself, I know how quickly those days fly by, and I want to help you hold on to every detail, from baby kicks to toddler giggles and everything in between.

Before photography, I spent nine wonderful years as an elementary school teacher and also worked as a babysitter, daycare provider, and private nanny. That experience gave me the patience and connection needed to bring out natural smiles (especially from your littles) and to create a session that feels easy, relaxed, and fun.

When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me with a book in hand, planning our next travel adventure, or soaking up the chaos and beauty of my own motherhood life, which is truly where my heart lies.

My Favorite Things

Family

Becoming a mom was something I knew I was meant to do, although the timeline didn't happen the way I planned. As a mom of a 3 1/2 year old and 4 month old, I know how rough it can be to prepare for sessions, which is why I have a small client closet to offer (because moms deserve to look great). I also have a HMUA on stand-by if you are wanting to add on that service to our session.

Traveling

As a military spouse, I get the privilege of getting to move every few years. Although difficult, it is awesome to get to see so many new places. I also grew up as a military brat, and so we got to travel a lot when I was younger. Some of my favorite places I. have been are: Germany, England, France and the Bahamas.

I cannot recommend Ashley Watkins Photography enough! Ashley did my maternity pictures, and she was absolutely amazing. From the very beginning, she made me feel so comfortable and at ease, which was a huge relief during such a special and emotional time.

The day of our shoot, it was snowing and freezing, but Ashley worked her magic and turned the cold weather into a stunning backdrop. She guided me through everything with such patience and professionalism, making sure every detail was perfect. Despite the chilly conditions, the session felt effortless and fun, and Ashley’s positivity made it such a memorable experience.

The pictures are beyond beautiful—she captured this moment in my life perfectly, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I look at them and feel so much love and excitement for what’s to come. I've used probably about 10 photographers since becoming a mom, and I would say Ashley is the best natural talent we have had thus far. She is kind, efficient, considerate, and fast. I appreciated her preparation tips email ahead of the shoot, her client closet availability and her ability to capture stunning photos from mundane moments. In the past, I've had professional photos with others where I'd have bad posture or harsh shadows on my face, or very poor editing. With Ashley, every photo she provided made me look like Hollywood starlet without even having to worry about poses or angles. Her personality is very easy going and welcoming. Her turn around time is very impressive. I'd highly recommend this photographer.

We had the pleasure of working with Ashley for multiple photo shoots, including individual sessions for our child and family portraits, and we couldn’t be happier with the results.
